HISTORIQUE DE L ' ASSOCIATION |

C’est à l’initiative de Melle Zélie BUCHEL, préceptrice auprès de familles protestantes, amoureuse du patrimoine cévenol
et en particulier du Château de Tornac, que la Société des Amis du Château de Tornac » a été fondée au mois d’août 1970.
Chargée à la fois de la restauration et de l’animation du site, l’Association a engagé pendant plusieurs années de nombreux
travaux grâce à l’aide notamment d’équipes de jeunes bénévoles.
Les travaux de restauration menés par l’Association permirent entre-autre la restauration des tours, dont la tour carrée
dite de Sandeyren, la consolidation de la façade Renaissance ainsi que la construction d’une scène destinée à recevoir les
spectacles organisés l’été.
Pour son action de sauvegarde du patrimoine, plusieurs prix furent décernés à l’Association dont celui de France 2 dans
son émission «Chef-d’œuvre en péril »
Plus de 30 ans après sa création, qu’en est-il de l’Association et de ses objectifs ? Libérée de la lourde tâche de restauration des bâtiments confiée à un Syndicat Intercommunal à Vocation Unique (SIVU), la nouvelle équipe en place depuis le début de l’année 2005 entend bien poursuivre et développer le travail mené précédemment par l’Association.
En collaboration étroite avec le SIVU, et avec l’appui des mairies d’Anduze et de Tornac devenues propriétaires, le rôle
de l’Association est désormais d’assurer la mise en valeur du site :
- par l’organisation de différentes manifestations culturelles et autres,
- par le suivi des opérations de restauration des lieux.
Elle compte bien également préserver l’esprit de partage et de convivialité initiés par sa fondatrice Zélie BUCHEL.
Comme à ses débuts, l’Association « Les Amis du Château de Tornac » est ouverte à toutes et à tous, les bonnes volontés
étant les bienvenues. Les dons et cotisations seront bien évidemment reçus avec reconnaissance et nous vous remercions d’ores
et déjà de votre soutien.

It is on the
initiative of Miss Zélie BUCHEL, governess with Protestant families, a
lover of the Cévenol heritage and particularly the Castle of Tornac,
that the "Association of the Friends of the Castle of Tornac " was
founded in August 1970. Charged at the same moment with the restoration
and with the animation of the site, the Association started during
several years numerous works thanks to the help of teams of young
volunteers.
The works of restoration led by the Association
permitted the restoration of towers, among which the square tower called
Sandeyren, the consolidation of the Renaissance facade as well as the
construction of a stage intended to receive the organized shows in
summer.
For its action of protection of the
heritage, several prizes were awarded to the Association among which
that of France 2 in its broadcast " Chef-d’oeuvre en peril”
More than 30 years after its creation,
the question of the objectives of the Association today is raised. Freed
from the heavy task of restoration of buildings entrusted to an
Association of communes with a Unique Vocation (SIVU), the new team in
place since the beginning of 2005 intends to pursue and to develop the
work led previously by the Association.
In narrow collaboration with
the SIVU, and with the support of the city halls of Anduze and Tornac
that became owners, the role of the Association is henceforth to insure
the development of the site:
- Through the organization of the various cultural and
other events,
- Through the follow-up of the operations of
restoration of the site.
The Association also plans to protect the
spirit of sharing and conviviality initiated by its founder Zélie BUCHEL.
As at its beginning, the
Association " Les Amis du Château de Tornac " is opened to all,
donations and contributions will naturally be received gratefully and we
already thank you for your support. New members would be warmly welcome. |
